The Past:

Since entering the full time ministry fifteen years ago, Doug and Shellie Dameron have always had a desire to plant a church. After receiving his training at the University of Oklahoma (Norman, OK) and Baptist Bible College (Springfield, MO), Doug has served in several ministry positions, from student pastor to senior pastor, with the full support of his wife. In each position they both have brought to their ministry a passion for the Word of God, as well as a heart for discipleship. The Damerons felt that each of these new endeavors was preparing them for such a time as this.

Doug and Shellie have always loved Colorado and God placed in their hearts a burden for the Denver metro area. Of this population, 93% claim no church affiliation, making Denver the fourth most un-churched city in America. God soon directed the Damerons to the Reunion/ Green Valley Ranch area. The Denver Regional council of governments forecasts this Regional Marketing area as “The New Growth Capitol of metro Denver.” The 2020 Regional Forecast includes the growth of more than 60,000 new jobs and 50,000 new housing units!

John 15:8 says, “Herein is my Father glorified, that you bear much fruit; so will you be my disciples.” It is their desire to glorify God by planting a new reproductive, fruit bearing church that is rooted in biblical discipleship.

The Present:

On July 12th, 2005, Doug and Shellie, along with their children Caleb, age 10 and Katelyn, age 8 were sent out from a local church in Pueblo, CO. where they were on staff for two and a half years. They loaded up their moving van, and relocated to the north east side of Denver. On August 18th, 2005, The Orchard Church began meeting regularly on Sunday mornings with a core group of young families and singles. The Church saw rapid growth to around 50 regular attendees each week. On Easter Sunday of 2006 they held their public launch at the Courtyard Marriot on Tower Road and saw over 135 attend. Since then the Church has continued to blossom with over 150 calling The Orchard Church their home. On Sunday January 7, 2007 the Church began meeting at the 600 seat Prairie View High School auditorium in the Reunion area just south of Brighton.

The Future:

The Bible says “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which the Lord has prepared for those who love Him.” I Corinthians 2:9. It is exciting to imagine what God has prepared for The Orchard Church. It is the Damerons’ desire for God to do what they cannot. The Orchard is His church not mans. Jesus said in Matthew 16:18 “I will build my church and the gates of hell will not prevail against it.” The Damerons believe that as they remain faithful to Christ and His Word, God will continue to grow The Orchard Church into a healthy, reproductive, fruit bearing Church.
